About Us
The Association of Community Action Partnerships of Louisiana is the state association for the 42 Community Action Agencies that serve our state. Our association provides important training and technical assistance to our members; as well as information on legislation, and new and existing programs. Additionally, we serve as a liaison to other allied professional organizations and as an advocate for our members and the people they serve.
Our Community Action Agencies served all 64 parishes with a wide variety of programs and services to help low income individuals and families achieve economic self-sufficiency and stability. CAAs are nonprofit private and public organizations that serve the poor by providing programs and services that seek to move them out of poverty and on to self-sufficiency. They were established by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964 under the Economic Opportunity Act to fight America’s War on Poverty. Funding for our members come from a variety of sources including: federal, state and local governments, foundations, corporations and private donations.
